Match Report - Twyford Barca - B U9's 2009/10

Type: ED CUP = Exeter & District Youth League Cup

After receiving a bye in the first round of the Exeter & District Youth League Cup, we were drawn West Exe Rangers as our first cup encounter. The visitors proved very strong opposition opening the scoring after just two minutes. We offered little defence as the goals kept flying into the back of the Twyford net despite the best efforts of keeper Keane Moore.

Aaron Long tried his hardest to keep the deficit to a minimum marking their star striker denying a number of attacks down the left hand side. At half time Twyford Barca were struggling already a staggering 9-0 down.

After the break, Twyford began to find their feet and get the measure of their opponents only conceding 1 goal in the first five minutes of the half. Liam Gillbard and Billy Curtis almost scored a consolation goal via corners from Aaron Long and Liam Gillbard but again it wasn't to be.

The game ended 16-0 to a team which on the day were unstoppable and who outclassed our team. This is something which we will chalk down to experience and move on. There are still plenty of games left in the season and there is no need to dwell on this result.
