Holland - Foreign Trip

Trip Report

For the first part of the trip Twyford travelled to Emmhof which is the Centre Parcs close to Almere. From here they travelled everyday when the tournament was on to Harlem. Goalscorers were Aiden Moyle against K.N.V.B. South and Nathan Hill against Playground and the only other goal in the tournament came from Liam Hill against K.N.V.B. North. The standard of the teams was very high as they were select teams and also a year to two years older than our oldest players. As most youth football in Holland was cancelled this was our only option. The friendly against Sliedrecht was the only game where we played people a comparable age. The goalscorers in the match were Aiden Moyle, Mark Sampson and Michael Sandiford.

During the trip the boys also had a tour of AZ Alkmaar, current Dutch Champions and travelled on to go across the Zuider Zee dyke which if broken would allow 60% of Holland to be flooded. On another day the lads went into the centre of Amsterdam and went on a cruise around the canals plus a look around the centre before going to watch the Amsterdam Arena tournament which involved Ajax, Benfica, Sunderland and Athletico Madrid. On the Saturday, after the tournament, we took the opportunity of catching the river ferry from our Centre Parcs to the town of Spakenberg to have a look around on a lovely sunny afternoon.

After the football tournament finished on the Sunday we travelled to the South of Holland to the Centre Parcs called Kempervennen near Eindhoven. Whilst at this centre we took more opportunity to use the facilities available but also visited Efetling Theme Park, watched PSV Eindhoven train and saw their Europa cup match against Bulgarian opposition Cherno More. The players on this trip were Liam Hill, Jake Leach, Dean Folland, Belah Miah, Mark Sampson, Aiden Moyle, Michael Sandiford, Richard Sandiford, Carl Warren, Craig Allington, Liam Short, Nathan Hill, Alex Bressington, Connor Daveridge, Reece Burnett and Matthew Mann. Driver Russell Kingdom and his mate Harold Pearce would like to thank Carl Warren and Craig Allington for their excellent cooking of breakfasts for them.
