Match Report - Twyford Barca - B U9's 2009/10

Type: EDYL = Exeter & District Youth League

Taking many lessons from our first game, a number of position changes proved to strengthen the formation enabling our players to challenge for every ball and closing down our opponents. Toby Place, Louis Bolduc and Matthew Reed kept the pressure on the Heavitree defence by running to every loose ball and passing into the waiting feet of Robert Wakeham who was able to send the ball up-field.

Twyford looked a well formed, team unit all supporting and helping each other and we held our own completely against our opponents until a goal mouth scramble from a Heavitree corner saw the only goal of the half.

Aaron Long and Konnor Tebby proved a strong defensive partnership able to clear the ball out and tackle the Heavitree forwards. All in all this was a very inspiring performance, which demonstrated that our boys have the makings of a strong team when they communicate and work together. Their determination to win every ball really made the difference and they can be very proud of the way they played.

Whilst the final score was 6-0 to Heavitree, Twyford has 3 or 4 opportunities through Matthew Reed and Louis Bolduc to score. If we continue to play this style of football our results will soon be overturned.
