Match Report - Twyford Barca - B U9's 2009/10

Our opening fixture of the day saw us face Sidmouth Warriors. From the kick off Twyford Barca had the majority of possession using the downhill advantage to their favour. Some excellent passing between the midfield created Twyford chances early on. We took a fortuitous lead after a shot was deflected off of a Sidmouth defender and snuck past their keeper and into the bottom corner.

Aaron Long's defensive challenges and non nonsense clearances were echoed by a number of crucial clearances from Konnor Tebby in the Twyford Goal helping us hold onto our 1-0 lead into half time.

Sidmouth Warriors fought back well and managed to equalise shortly after the break through a goal mouth scramble. Aaron Long pushed forward again in the second half playing slightly in front of Louis Bolduc in defence and had a couple of chances which went wide. Liam Gillbard pressured the Sidmouth defence, but was unable to break through.
The Warriors took the lead mid-way in the second half with a shot in the top corner. Our players knuckled down and pressed on determined to fight for the draw but it wasn't to be. This was an excellent team effort and an extremely close game. Twyford Barca were a determined, organised unit with everyone giving 110% and were unlucky not to win.
