Match Report - Twyford Barca - B U10's 2010/11

Type: EDYL = Exeter & District Youth League

Our 2010/2011 season campaign began with a trip to the coast to face Sidmouth Warriors. The game got off to a nervous start with a midfield battle between the two sides. The Warriors opened the scoring after 3 minutes from a run down the left wing which led to a shot fired into the middle of the goal.

Sidmouth kept up the pressure by retaining possession and passing well down the right hand side. Twyford defenders Zack Veen and Aaron Long were kept busy blocking a number of crossing attempts from the Warriors’ forwards. Our opponents determination was rewarded with a further two goals before a lobbed clearance out of our half created a break for Eden Reynell which striker Ben Mantle struck hard and low into the back of the net.

As the match progressed, our players got into the game battling for every challenge and jostling for possession. The experience of our opponents was too much on the day, the 8 - 1 final score does not reflect the 110% effort shown by every player on the pitch. This was a fantastic display of team spirit and a game in which nothing more could have been asked for of the team.

A special thank you to Meagan who kindly helped out, she was a dynamo in midfield linking well with Eden and Ben.
