02.10.2010 | EDYL | Twyford Barca | v | Okehampton Milan | Aaron Long (1), Eden Reynell (1) |
Twyford Barca started strongly against the visitors, contesting every tackle and running at the opposition through the middle of the park. The scoring opened when Okehampton Milan conceded a free kick about 20 yards out which defender; Aaron Long sensationally struck sweetly over the wall curling away to the goalkeeper’s right and into the goal! A free kick that even Frank Lampard would admire.
We continued to maintain our momentum pressing high up the pitch, pinning Okehampton in their half, Jack Walton coming close with a shot just wide of the goal.
Another very strong performance from Eden Reynell contained any advances down the wing and enabling Patrick Smith to have a couple of good runs on his debut.
The first half continued to be a very open game, producing a missed penalty from Okehampton, an equaliser and a second Twyford goal from an Eden Reynell strike which deflected into the net by an Okehampton defender.
Our opponents were fired up after their half-time team talk from their manager and dominated much of the play in the opening minutes, a number of shots saved by Twyford Keeper; Konnor Tebby. Aaron Long and Zack Veen battled gallantly to keep our team in front until a shot from Okehampton rattled the crossbar midway through the half causing controversy and an equaliser.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw, against a very strong Milan team following an excellent team performance from every single player.
