Match Report - Twyford Barca - B U10's 2010/11

Last season, West Hill Wasps were very strong opponents and scored 10 goals against our team. Our aim from today’s match was to make it a much more even contest. From the whistle, the possession was dominated by Twyford Barca, mainly from Keelan Vellacott, Brandon Davies and Jack Walton muscling their way through the Wasps midfield. Some individual skill from Aaron Long saw him travel two thirds of the pitch taking on three players and carving up our opponents. We had some early chances to take the lead from Keelan Vellacott but unfortunately, some decisive tackles from our opponents thwarted his advances. Jakub Kulczyki gave a good performance in the centre of the Twyford midfield, challenging for possession and clearing the ball out to the touchline during West Hill breakthroughs.

Twyford kept up the pressure and looked the most likely to score until a counter attack led to a West Hill goal despite a jump from Konnor Tebby and his fingertips just pushing it into the roof of the goal.

Our second half was another tooth and nail battle, physical tackles from both teams kept the majority of action in the centre of the park. Neither Twyford nor West Hill had many shots on goal in the first seven or eight minutes.

It was around the nine minute mark when Wasps managed to find a way through Aaron Long and Zack Veen to double their goal count.

Every team member played their part, but it was an inspired run down the right wing from Eden Reynell late into the half and a fantastic stop from Konnor Tebby in the dying moment, when faced by two West Hill strikers clear on goal that stand out as the two highlights of our game.

A Fantastic result against one of the stronger teams in the Exeter League and evidence just how teamwork and hard work has gelled our players this season. This was a great game to watch which could have gone either way.
