Match Report - Twyford Barca - B U10's 2010/11

For the opening 10 minutes, we looked much the better side, containing the home side in their own half. Eden Reynell, Brandon Davies and Jack Walton maintained possession and passed the ball extremely well and despite our efforts, we were unable to break through the Culm Sampford defence and get a shot away.

As the home team began to break, we managed to get plenty of bodies in our box to smother any attempts on our goal. A nervous spell of pressure saw the Culm side grow in confidence and pressure our defence. Aaron Long and Zack Veen together made excellent strong tackles and Toby Heard cleared the ball up field to Eden and Jack to make another advance towards the Culm Sampford goal.

In the twelfth minute, we gave the home team the lead through an unfortunate goal kick which fell directly into the path of a CS Juventus striker who slotted the ball past keeper; Konnor Tebby. This goal prompted our opponents to press forward and keep us pinned in our penalty box. Their persistence was rewarded with a second goal on the stroke of half time.

The second half was an extremely close contest, with some excellent long passes coming from Keelan Vellacott and Eden Reynell. We also had some more opportunities created when Aaron Long launched a number of throws into the Sampford box enabling Jack Walton and Keelan Vellacott to shoot.
All of the Twyford Barca players performed very well and the game ended with an own goal from the last cross of the game. This match could have easily been a draw or even a win today, we just failed to capitalise on the chances we created. I am very proud of our team’s efforts and the boys are showing tremendous improvement week after week.
