Match Report - Twyford Barca - B U10's 2010/11

Building on their performance in the first match; Toby Heard and Eden Reynell proved unstoppable down the left and right wing. Their strength enabled them to push past the Ottery defenders and cross the ball into front man; Jack Walton.

Zack Veen and Sam Walker had little cause for concern as they cleared the loan spell of Ottery offense. We regained composure and applied more pressure, opening up the Canons midfield and took the lead through a fantastic low strike into the bottom corner from Toby Heard. Our spectator’s were rewarded with another Twyford goal a few minutes later from Eden Reynell and then a thunderous ball into the back of the net from Matt Reed. Toby Heard and Eden doubled their tallies before half time giving Barca a 5-0 lead going into the break.

The balance of power shifted in the opening minutes as the Canons tackles became more physical and they forced their way back into the game. The home side narrowed the score line early in the second half after 2 goals in five minutes. Substitute Brandon Davis put in an excellent second half performance opening his account with a shot from the edge of the box into the left side of the goal. Jack Walton’s hard work was also eventually rewarded with a goal ¾ of the way into the half.

Defender Reuben Miles-Young gave a gallant effort at Twyford Barca right-back sliding in on a number of occasions to prevent further Ottery goals before having to leave the field following an injury. The game ended 7-2 and is our first win of the 2010-2011 league season.

I am extremely proud of all our players today; this win demonstrates my belief that we have always been capable of such a result. I hope that the confidence gained from today’s matches can be carried into our next game in two weeks time.
