Match Report - Twyford Barca - B U10's 2010/11

Type: EDYL = Exeter & District Youth League

We started proceedings off strongly pressuring for the ball and winning our challenges down both wings. Toby Heard and Eden Reynell gave our side the width we needed to play around the outside of West Exe Rangers. Our determination to keep the ball and pass was rewarded midway through the first half when a through ball set up Patrick Smith for a one on one with the Rangers Keeper. Patrick’s first shot was rebounded off of their goalie before Patrick blasted home his second attempt to give us a well deserved lead.

For the remainder of the half we dug in well and closed down our opponents looking the most likely to score again. Twyford Right-Back; Sam Walker fought off countless West Exe runs even taking a ball square in the face. At the break, we rocked our opponents taking a 1-0 lead into half time. All our players had given an excellent first half performance and thoroughly deserved to be ahead. Substitute Midfielder; Kieran Ashley made his third appearance for his club replacing Toby.

The second half was a nervous affair, with plenty of end-to-end football. Twyford Keeper; Konnor Tebby made a number of decisive clearances and commanded his box. West Exe Rangers equalised halfway through the second half and gained confidence from the goal. Our opponents charged forward and pressed on but the defences of Zack Veen and Sam Walker were kept busy.

We battled gallantly, but West Exe scored another which seemed to put extra wind in their sails seeing a further 2 hit the back of the Twyford net before the final whistle. The Twyford players gave an excellent team performance against very strong opponents and deserved a better result. Our first half display was worthy of a win and we are playing with real belief… Fantastic boys, that’s how to play football!!!
