Match Report - Twyford Spartans - G U14's 2010/11

Type: DGFL = Devon Girls Football League

On a very cold Sunday morning the girls turned up ready to play in a what turned out to be a well contended match.  Twyford held their own and were unlucky to go a goal down early in the game.  This seemed to spur the girls on and there was some good play on the left side of the field involving Katie Adcock who had acres of space to play and with this made good runs and supported her strikers.  This play resulted in a goal just before half time from Millie McLear who took her opportunity well. 

With the ground being quite firm this began to have an affect on the girls who hadn't played a game since November as tiredness set in.  Plainmoor took advantage and scored a very good second goal, but Twyford did not give up and had many chances on goal but it was not happening for them.  The third goal for Plainmoor came towards the end of the game. 

Special praise goes to Robyn Freed who stepped into the goal and it was down to her good goalkeeping that their score was kept to three.  Alice Butler, Laura Huxtable, Spam Edmunds played well in defence.  Beth Holloway in her debut supported the defenders and worked hard down the right hand side.  Midfielders Alice Kent, Laura Kent, Katie Adcock and Mollie Fawell worked hard and put in some good strong tackles.  Millie McLear and Shannon Grover worked well together and made some good chances.

This was a much improved performance and the girls can be proud of how they performed today.
