Match Report - Twyford Spartans - G U14's 2010/11

Type: DCC = Devon County Cup

The Twyford girls were well up for this match and were all looking forward to another close contest.  The girls started well and in the first half it was end to end football with very little shots on goal from either team. 

In the second half, after a few changes, the Twyford team came out determined to score goals and their determination paid off with a through ball to Amy Sanders who finished well to score the first goal of the game.  Twyford continued to play good football closing down the opposition at every opportunity but Phoenix Club kept coming at Twyford and scored a deserved equaliser.  Twyford scored their second of the game from a tap in by Mollie Fawell and with only 5 minutes till the full time whistle it looked like Twyford were going to get their first win of the season only for Phoenix to score another equaliser. 

Now into extra time, the girls began to tire and Phoenix took advantage of this to score a third goal.  Spam Edmunds had to leave as she had another engagement which meant another change around for the Twyford team with Katie Adcock playing in the unfamiliar role of right back.  Katie covered the position well and with a good through ball Alice Kent latched on to the end of and put it in the back of the net.  The game looked as if it was going to penalties only for a younger member of the team Lois Mackerness to pop in the winner.  The girls voted Lois Macknerness girl of the match. 

All the girls played exceptional today and were deserved winners of the County Cup Game.
