Match Report - Twyford Spartans - B U18's 2010/11

Twyford started brightly and looked dangerous but the home team scored with their first attack when Twyford felled to clear a corner. Within five minutes it was two nil and Twyford looked in for a bad afternoon against a good but very physical team. Then with the host looking like scoring at will the central defensive partnership of Jan Pollington and Belah Miah ably assisted by full backs Jake Leach and Ed Frankland started to get a foothold in the game. This allowed Josh Wren and Mark Sampson to show their skills and provide some service to the front players. Eliot Fisher and Liam Chard-Maple were both unlucky not to score before Chard-Maple pulled a goal back, Sampson hit the post and Chard-Maple lobing the keeper but the effort went just wide. Upto half time the game was close although Liam Hill produced fine saves in both halfs including saving a penalty. The second half was even until fifteen minutes from the end Exmouth added their and soon added a fourth and fifth as Twyford stopped playing. the characters in the side then rallied for the last ten minutes to prevent an even bigger score. Jordan Aitchison, Adam Stonrman and Maxi Smith all battled well.
