Match Report - Twyford Spartans - G U12's 2011/12

Type: DGFL = Devon Girls Football League

This  was our first game for a while and it showed,on a very cold day we started slowly with Roseland having more of the ball our players seemed half a yard slower, but it wasnt long before our midfield started to win the ball and move it into space Emily and Ruby combined well and pushed the ball out to Lydia who made a great run only to be brought down the resulting free kick saw a shot on goal well saved as the half went on both teams created chances but from our point of view our finishing wasnt quite there Roselands had a corner close to the half which was cleared to the kicker the ball came back and flew off a Twyford foot into the back of the net to leave us 1-0 down at rhe break .

                                                                                We had a move around at half time and started strongly Lydia,Jordan and Lauren passed the ball with more pace allowing Ruby to have some runs into the box having a couple of shots well saved as the half went on we pushed to equalise but is so often the case we got caught on the break and the roseland team went 2 up. After this we could have given up but the team showed great spirit and had there best part of the game Hannah and Holly did very well when they came on and Emily made several strong runs but in front of goal it was not our day ,again as we were pushing forward we got caught at the back the ball broke into the box and was saved by our excellent keeper Ellie who appeared to be bundled over the line for 3-0 a very harsh decision was her reaction the result was 3-0.

                                                                          Despite the score this was a good game and we got stronger as the game went on just forgot our shooting boots today chloe,lauren and emily were exceptional in defence and as i said to them at the end roselands were an improved side and we had a bit of an off day but still our spirit and skill started to show through and i am looking forward to our next fixture well done girls.
