Match Report - Twyford Spartans - G U14's 2012/13

Type: DGFL = Devon Girls Football League

Complete contrast to the week before, the sun was shining and just a little breeze.  Kick off for the match was 10:35, as the game got started it was evident to see that the girls were pretty well evenly matched.  Our girls were showing some new found confidence with both teams trying to show their authority.  A quarter of the way into the match and Shannon was again making some good saves.  The next minute the ball was up the other end of the pitch and a corner was taken by Twyford , no goal became of it.  Ashmoor broke quickly down our end, Shannon made a good save from a hard shot only to see the rebound go to the feet of our opponents (unlucky) and they scored.  Our girls fought back and didn't give in, there drive didn't faulter and the rest of the first half was mainly ours.  There were shots from Kim, Lydia, Phoebe and Chloe W but the ball wouldn't find the back of the net. Ashmoor made another break but the defence held strong with Shannon making some good saves. The whistle ended the first half 1-0 to Ashmoor.

Second half with some hard running and Twyford attacking Chloe H-J, Nicole and Lydia doing well, with Courtney and Chloe G doing some great blocking and defending. Once again Ashmoor break for goal but Hannah got a good block in to keep them at bay.This half there were some real struggles and a few kicks going our way, Kate takes a shot at goal but it didn't go our way. Then come a long speculative shot from Ashmoor which somehow found the back of the net 2-0.  In the last few minutes of the game nearly all the Twyford team touch the ball near there net but it wasn't to be.  Well done girls a really good match for which you deserved more.
