Match Report - Twyford Spartans - B U11's 2009/10

Twyford were away at second in the league Newton Abbott 66 in the Exeter Youth League in an exciting encounter in difficult playing conditions. Newton Abbott took the lead in the first half, however, Twyford created chances but just could not convert them and this plus some excellent defending by keeper Adam Jarrett and defenders Edward Heard and Luke Broomfield ensured the game finished 1-0 at half time. In the second half Twyford again pressed for the equaliser with Midfielders Sam Jones and Lewis Hill pushing the team on, however Twyford left themselves exposed on a counter attack and Newton took advantage to score a second. Twyford did not give up and a neat passing move saw striker Ben Morgan pull a goal back. Twyford kept pushing and a stinging corner from Hill saw the Newton keeper punch the ball into his own net for the equaliser. As Twyford went for the winner another break by Newton saw them take a 3-2 lead .Twyford nearly equalised in the last minute when a shot by Reagan Holwell hit the legs of the Newton keeper. Although the score did not reflect the chances in the game Twyford can take heart from the performance
