Match Report - Twyford Milan - B U12's 2009/10

After a season of no points a tie away to first divisIon Wembdon was always going to be a very tall order, however Twyford, bottom of the second division, gave their lofty rivals a huge scare, only losing out on penalties.
Valiant Twyford were excellent from the start and deservedly raced into a 2-0 half time lead, with goals from Simon Holwell and Alex Morrey-Jones, both assisted by Ryan Roberts.
Wembdon expectedly came back strong in the second half pegging Twyford back but an amazing 30 yard left foot lob from James Henshaw restored their advantage. After much heroics in a defence of Kieran Tebby, Brad Burnett, Scott Hellier and Regan Holwell. Wembdon managed to equalise 5 minutes before the end of normal time to make it 3-3 and send the match into extra time. Caius Hill and captain David Rawlings run their legs off to keep the scores level in overtime and but for a wonder save from Harry Toogood in the last minute of extra time Wembdon would have won it there and then. Dreaded penalties came but the boys had all given everything they had and eventually went out 1-3.
This was by far this teams best performance to date and the players should all take the positives out of the day and I am sure that all supporters enjoyed a fantastic game played with tremendous spirit.
