Twyford MonacoÂ’s cup run came to an end against St Martins. It was a shame for both sides that the game went ahead as the pitch was in no fit state for any football to be played so in the end it was the home side who converted their chances to make it to the semi finals. Monaco played with great spirit and battled bravely and were unfortunate as the game could have gone either way. Tom HainesÂ’ handling in goal was excellent and Jack Zilch could not have played with more determination. His rugby grounding came to the fore as he battled and inspired his team mates to do the same. Dan Verrier looked strong on the left hand side of midfield and got some telling crosses into the box. St Martins had a strong spine to their side and opened the scoring in the first half. Monaco deservedly equalized when Danny Crook was fouled in the box and Aaron Farebrother converted the spot kick.

Early in the second half St Martins went into the lead again and although Monaco had some half chances they couldnÂ’t quite find the clear opportunity that their efforts deserved.
