An under strength Monaco team were made to fight hard for the three points against Beacon Knights. Monaco found it hard to get going but midway through the first half Aaron Farebrother's excellent pass found Dan Verrier who thumped the ball past the home keeper. It stayed that way until well into the second half until Monaco were awarded a free kick outside the Beacon Knights penalty area which Verrier despatched for his second goal of the game. The home side found another gear and put pressure on the Monaco defence and were awarded a penalty which, fortunately for Monaco came back off the post. Almost immediately Nick Merriam broke free of the home defence to put Monaco three up and five minutes later he grabbed his second of the game with another run and finish. It was a battling all round performance with Alex Wright and Harry Venner proving too strong for the Beacon Knights forwards.
