France & Spain 2024

Trip Report

Leaving from Kingdom’s Yard, Tiverton at 4am on 21st August 2024. Ferry leaves Poole at 8.30am arriving at Cherborg in France at 2.15pm French time. Travelling then on their Kingdom’s Coach to Rennes for there first over night stop. On Thursday 27th August a Tour of Rennes stadium before travelling south to Saubusse north of Biarritz. Next day, Friday 28th August, we head into Spain and the Spanish capital, Madrid. Both Twyford teams have two matches against Spanish opponents and a coaching session at Athletico Madrid’s training complex. The party watched Getafe v Real Vallecano and Athletico v Girona. Also had tours of Athletico and Real Madrid stadium. Staying at the Euro Suites Hotel Mirasierra. Walked round the center of Madrid seeing all the sites. On the way north to Biarritz we had a tour of Burgos stadium. We went back into Spain to visit the Real Sociedad training complex for training with Real Sociedad. A tour of their stadium was good and then we watched Real Sociedad v Alaves. Sans Sebastian seemed a nice city. Bilbao was then visited for a tour of Athlectic Bilbao stadium. After a free day in Biarritz we then travelled north to Nantes on the way watching Angers v Nice. The next day was backed to Cherbourg for the ferry home. In Spain the temp. reached 38 degrees every day and in France it dropped to 27 degrees. The ferry was on a flat sea out and back. Scorers in the match against Orioko were Cody Stansfield 4, Freddie Ansley, Kamil Wojtowicz and William Findlay. The match against Periso saw Job Gerrard 2, Cody Stansfield and Freddie Ansley scoring. In the lost against Torrejon de Ardoz obviously no scorers. Also in Squad were Kayden Hornby, Jake Spence, Isaac Criddle, Corbin Simmons, Mason Mangnall, Kaan Andrews, Liam Birtchnell, Joseph Lane and Sunny Webber. The younger team saw Alfie Birtchnell net against Basquetours. Against Valdeluz Jack Birtchnell 4 and Archie Smith scored for Twyford. No goals against PA Academy. Also playing were Noah Coombes, Jacon Gould, Alexander Bailey, Reuben Seddon-Davey and Illia Shtark. Hopefully a trip enjoyed by all.
